This article is about you and about how much you are willing to connect with your Self again. Do you know your Self? How much do you know your Self?
In today’s loud and busy world that’s more valuable than ever before. There is always so much going on and so much to be done, that there is hardly any time left for yourself. Did you ever feel like there is no “you” in your own life, you do things automatically, often without even noticing what you do, just to keep everything going?
You see, after my dad passed away 2 years ago I used to spend as much time as I could with my mom. I’m sure, you spend quality time with your loved ones, too. But, here is the question: when was the last time you had time for yourself?
Spending time with yourself is a must and sometimes it is even more important than spending time with your family and friends. This is because you need to connect with yourself better in order to be able to connect with others.
Now, if you think that you have to do some detailed planning therefore you are on the wrong path, my friend. All you need is the determination to do it. We are talking here about time you spend with yourself doing something that you love to do. That might be riding your bike, going for a walk, doing some yoga or exercising, reading a book, playing a game with your kids, or just watching TV or a video. Spending time alone with yourself is a truly powerful and rewarding experience that you should do every day. Even a 10 minutes short walk around your house or office or sitting on a park bench watching what happens around you can help you connect with yourself again.
I personally love to go out for a walk. Spending time with myself gives me more patience, helps me “unwind” and, it helps me become more productive. Here are some tips from my own experience in connecting with myself:
– Make sure you spend time with yourself on a regular daily basis even if you start off with as little as 10 minutes a day. You still can gradually increase that time to about half an hour to an hour per day but you need to spend at least this much time to see the benefits.
– Choose your activities carefully – we all like variety, so having chosen a few activities will make it more fun.
– For some people watching TV is the way to connect with themselves again. I don’t really agree with them, because for me this is more of a break. For me, connecting with myself means moving away from my usual environment and then doing something that is completely different from what I did before – and I suggest you do that too, because it works!
– Enjoy spending some time with yourself without the feeling that there are more important things to do. Try to connect to yourself without pressure or commitment, because that’s not going to work.
Now it is your turn. Connect with yourself again, and you’ll be surprised by the results.
