One of the greatest motivational speakers, author and brilliant sales man who helped lots of people from the
“no name guy” to VIPs from all over the world, was Hilary Hinton “Zig” Ziglar.

He was born in Coffee County, Alabama as the tenth of twelve children. He firmly believed that helping others will help one get what they really want for themselves. That’s what he lived for, that’s what he practiced, and perhaps we should take that as his legacy.

He died yesterday at the age of 86. RIP.

Most people who are involved with personal development have read at least some of  his most important books: See You at the Top, Born to Win, How to Get What You Want, Better Than Good, etc., watched his videos or joined his trainings and seminars. Those of you who have just “touched” the personal development and self-improvement niches are well advised to do that asap.

Just like many others, I started out with a MLM company. I loved the product, I loved connecting with people – but I hated the “selling part”. However, I was determined to do the job.

After many good and bad experiences and a few months later, I had only 10 people in my downline, 3 of them family members. Truly, I wasn’t very successful. My upline suggested to take a closer look at what I’m doing (perhaps the wrong way?) – but, hell no, I was not ready for that yet… What I heard and understood was that I was not able to get new people in our organization, I was not able to do the job. Long story short, I quit.

Years later, now and today I still don’t like “selling” the way it’s merely done on the Internet,
I still prefer people “find me” when they need my support. And I feel good about that. Perhaps some of the marketers out there will say now “you’ll never make a dime if you don’t sell”.
Right or wrong – who knows…

To me, there a huge difference between selling my services, selling something that actually helps other people to get what they want, and just selling “something” to make money. Don’t get me wrong, we all need to make money. But I think what so many people are truly struggling with is to make a difference what’s the right and the wrong way for them, to define and apply it.

What I understood from my own struggling

When you know what’s right or wrong for yourself, for the person who you are, you start making those small shifts that lead to changing your mindset, changing how you feel and how you see things in your life and more importantly, how you see yourself. It’s a attitude of mind whether you succeed or just watch others succeed.

Of course, the right attitude of mind is one of many criteria when it comes to achieve but for sure, the most important one, won’t you agree? You see, you have already achieved so much in your life, be confident and appreciate yourself, look at yourself the way you really deserve it. Get the right attitude of mind, if necessary even by changing your mindset.
